The US and Chinese companies operating in the communications industry – a long-lasting tragedy. Now the next chapter. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission, the regulatory agency for communications equipment in the United States) has declared ZTE and Huawei a national security risk for the United States. This also ensures that telecommunications providers in the USA no longer receive government subsidies when they are used to buy hardware from ZTE or Huawei.
A quote from “Office of Commissioner” Geoffrey Stark from the Scripture:
“Network security is national security. Today’s measures will help protect our networks from new threats posed by Huawei and ZTE devices. However, we must not lose sight of the existing unreliable equipment. Last year I asked the FCC to find the unreliable equipment on our networks, to fix the problem through an exchange program, and to fund the replacement of that equipment.”
Another quote from FCC Chairman Ajit Pai:
“With today’s orders and based on overwhelming evidence, the Bureau has identified Huawei and ZTE as national security threats to America’s communications networks and our 5G future. Both companies have close ties to the Chinese Communist Party and China’s military apparatus, and both companies are largely subject to Chinese law, which obliges them to work with the country’s secret services”.
It will soon rumble because there is a lot of hardware from the two manufacturers in the individual networks.
